SHOWSTOPPER 1950\'s CARTWHEEL FUCHSIA FELT HAT + FUCHSIA/BLACK FEATHERS
download picture
description
This is a showstopper cartwheel/platter hat from the ultra fashionable 1950s\'! The oval shaped hat is made of bright fuchsia felt, which is covered in fuchsia and black feathers on top. Underneath there is a small cap with side \"wings\" that help keep the hat in place. Quite possibly the hat was secured with hairpins (not included). This is a work of art worthy of admiration.
Label: FLO-RAYE - New York
Flo-Raye pieces were highly recognizable for their quality & intricate detailing. Signature design elements included: Wide-brimmed \"halo\" or \"platter\" hats. These hats represented the postwar glamour and \"women-flowers\" aesthetic that dominated fashion. Pieces from the label have become highly collectible! Several historic examples are preserved in prestigious collections, such as the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.
Please keep in mind that you are buying a vintage hat, not new nor perfect! This is an authentic piece of fashion history! This hat is in wonderful vintage condition & has been lovingly preserved among over 1300 vintage hats we have collected for 40+ years. Feathers, straw, furs, flowers & veils are fragile, given their age. Mannequin not for sale.
